The first season of High Stakes Poker, taped at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, was first broadcast in January 2006 and consisted of 13 episodes, hosted by A. J. Benza and comedian/actor-turned-poker pro Gabe Kaplan.Various locations have been used in the show. Season one was taped at the Golden Nugget casino hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The second season took place at the Palms Casino Resort. The third and fourth seasons were taped at the South Point Hotel and Casino. In Season five, the show returned to the Golden Nugget. The participants on the show include both professional poker players and amateur players, including celebrities such as Jerry Buss and Sam Simon.
Three female players have participated in the show as of 2011: Jennifer Harman, Mimi Tran and Vanessa Selbst.
The only players to have participated in all seven seasons are: Doyle Brunson, Antonio Esfandiari, Barry Greenstein and Daniel Negreanu.
